Christmas lunch

The dinner ladies did a fantastic job of making Christmas lunch for us yesterday (Thursday).  We all had lots to eat and really enjoyed this - even though the fire alarm went off in the middle of it!

THANK YOU DINNER LADIES for making us such a wonderful lunch!

Christmas jumpers

Did you know today is Christmas Jumper Day!

Primary 5 arranged a competition to design our own Christmas jumpers and we also all paid 50p to wear our jumpers to school.  There was over £93 raised altogether - well done Primary 5 for organising this!

Maths games

We have been learning our times tables in Primary 4 this term.  We were given a challenge to design our own game to help us learn our times tables.  It was fun but a little tricky!  When we had finished making our game we then all got to play each other's games.  We had to leave feedback about what we thought was good about the game and what could be done better next time - and we will make changes to our games and try playing them again.  We will let you know how they work once we have made our improvements!

Fiddlers!

Douglas has been teaching a number of children in our class how to play the fiddle.  We were all very excited last week when we got a sneak preview of what they were going to play at the Christmas concert - but we weren't allowed to put it up here until after the show so we didn't spoil the surprise!

Unfortunately we can't add the second video to the blog page as it is too big, but you can see it by clicking on the link below:

Christmas Assembly

It was Primary 4's Assembly on the last Friday of November so we decided to have a Christmas theme given it would be December by Monday.

We were talking about Christmas not being about getting presents and that there are children around the world who will not have any presents under their Christmas tree this year (or maybe they won't even have a Christmas tree).

We want everyone to be grateful for what they have and not to be unhappy if they do not get everything they have asked for at Christmas as there are many children who do not have anything at all.

Prize winning guinea pigs!

Jasmin had a busy weekend two weeks ago, when she took her guinea pigs to the show in the Mart.  She had a very successful day and won several prizes - well done Jasmin!

Please have a look at the photos Jasmin took, and hopefully Jasmin will leave us some comments to explain what it was she was doing and what she got her prizes for.

Norwegian visitors

The whole school had a treat this morning when we had three Norwegian visitors come and perform for us.  They were very funny and also played fantastic music!  Please have a look at our photos and listen to the videos of them playing.

Measurement skills

As part of our learning in Maths we have been looking at measurement and the different ways we can do this.  We have looked at measuring weight, length and area so far.

These photos show us using balances to measure weight - we were trying to find objects in the classroom that were the same weight as the weights we had.  It was fun but quite tricky to find things that made the scales balance.

Maybe Primary 4 will add some comments to tell you a bit more about this!

Rugby

We have had a lot of fun this term improving our tag rugby skills.  We were out in all weathers - even when it was pouring with rain - Ms Rendall wasn't always very fond of the smell in the classroom afterwards!

Please click on the link below and have a look at some photos that were taken when we were practising.

Can anyone explain some of the important rules and tactics in tag rugby?  Please leave a comment if you can!
